At our school, English is more than just a subject: it’s something we truly love. Led by Miss Castleman (Head of English), our passionate team includes Ms Ball and Miss Bird, our Phonics and Reading Leads in Key Stage 1, and Ms Scott and Mrs Kitley, our Writing Leads. We are all avid readers who can often be found sharing book recommendations, talking about our favourite authors or getting lost in a good story.
Our love of reading is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that books have the power to spark imagination, build empathy and inspire creativity. The stories we read influence the stories we write; we use great literature to help our children become confident, expressive and thoughtful writers.
Phonics gives every child the key to unlock words, stories, and ideas it’s where a lifelong love of learning begins.
Above all, we want every child in our school to find joy in English: to experience the magic of getting lost in a book, the pride of crafting a brilliant sentence and the confidence to share their ideas with the world.
