Safeguarding at White Court School

Nothing is more important to us than the safety and wellbeing of our pupils. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of every child in our care. All staff, governors and volunteers receive regular safeguarding training and work together to create a culture where children feel safe, valued and listened to.

We follow the statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE)and have clear systems and policies in place to protect children from harm. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, and we work closely with families and external agencies to ensure that every child can learn and grow in a safe and supportive environment.

If You’re Worried About a Child Outside of School

We understand that members of our community sometimes become aware of situations that happen outside of school hours or involve children who do not attend White Court.

While we always want to know about anything that could affect the safety or wellbeing of our own pupils, concerns about incidents that take place away from school should be reported directly to the appropriate services, so that support can be provided without delay.

If you believe a child may be at risk of harm, please contact Children’s Social Care immediately rather than waiting for the school to reopen:

  • 0345 603 7627 (Mon–Thu 9 am–5:30 pm, Fri 9 am–4:30 pm)

  • 0345 606 1212 (Out of hours and bank holidays)

  • Or complete an  online Request for Support form

  • If a child is in immediate danger, call 999.

You can also contact the NSPCC Helpline for confidential advice.

Thank you for helping us protect all children in our community by directing urgent or out-of-school concerns straight to the professionals who can act quickly.

Online Safety

We teach children how to use technology safely and responsibly, both in and out of school.
Helpful websites for parents include:

Prevent Strategy

The Prevent Strategy is part of the Government’s wider safeguarding approach to protect individuals from radicalisation and extremism.

At White Court, we fulfil our Prevent duty by:

  • Promoting British Values of democracy, respect and tolerance

  • Encouraging open, age-appropriate discussion

  • Challenging prejudice and discrimination

  • Using internet filters and vetting visitors carefully

This ensures that children develop critical thinking skills, empathy and a strong sense of belonging.

Health, Wellbeing and Anti-Bullying

We actively support children’s physical and emotional wellbeing.

We have zero tolerance for bullying and teach our pupils to be kind, respectful and courageous in standing up for others.

Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do at White Court.
We will always act immediately on concerns relating to our pupils. For incidents or worries that occur outside school hours or in the wider community, please contact Children’s Social Care or the police so that help can be provided straight away.
Together, we can ensure every child is safe, supported and able to thrive.
